How to write the correct date in 2020?

Published.: January 05th, 2020
Let's avoid risks when writing the date on legal, financial and general documents!
Pay close attention to details:
- The short date is generally used in informal documents and usually follows the format "dd/mm/yy" or "dd/mm/yyyy" (day, month, year), using either the last two digits of the year or the full year. However, in some official documents it is suggested to include signatures and footnotes with the short date for reasons of practicality and legality. The recommendation this year is to use the second format when writing the short date: dd/mm/yyyy.
- More than an official rule, this is simply a recommendation based on common sense to prevent any legal or formal issues. For example, in the workplace, if an employee uses the short date format for today as 02/01/20, the contract could be exposed to alterations if someone with ill intent decides to add digits to change the date, potentially harming the person who signed. The date could then be altered to a past or future date such as 02/01/2001 or 02/01/2021.
